Marcie Demmy Bidwell
Marcie specializes in sustainable design, community engagement & facilitation, environmental education and project management. In 2005, she served as MSI's Operations Manager. In 2006, Marcie became MSI's Community Projects Coordinator and Community-based Alternative Futures program manager responsible for program design and fundraising, stakeholder collaboration, media outreach and evening planning. Marcie then served as a planning consultant and project manager for environmental consulting companies. She returned to MSI in April 2010 as a part-time project manager.
During the spring and summer of 2006, Marcie served as lead facilitator, coordinating with San Juan County and the Animas River Stakeholders Group, in the creation of the Animas River Corridor Revitalization Project
(ARCRP) built upon volunteerism and coalitions of diverse constituencies, the goals of which are to artfully combine historic preservation, riparian restoration, recreation development, economic development, and mined lands clean up along the Animas River.
The Community-based Alternative Futures program provides assistance to San Juan Mountain communities facing issues related to sustainability; rapid growth; planning; land, community and economic transitions. Marcie currently works for SWCA Environmental Consultants in Durango as an Environmental Planner. She holds a B.S. in Design from the University of Cincinnati; and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington. Marcie and her husband, Ryan Demmy Bidwell, Executive Director, Colorado Wild, are avid mountaineers, mountain lovers, rock and ice climbers, paddlers, and skiers. They live in Durango, Colorado.
