News Flash: PLEASE HELP MSI PURCHASE THE SILVERTON LAKES PROPERTY FOR OUR FIELD STATION (click here).
MSI has provided affordable lodging for education, research and non-profit users since September 2004. Until May 2008, MSI operated its field station out of the historic Avon Hotel. Last summer, the Institute switched operations to the Outward Bound Campus and the Hostel.
This summer (2010), MSI is leasing the Outward Bound Campus/Silverton Lakes Campground and will offer lodging from May 1st to October 30. MSI hopes to acquire the property (read more).

Seven small cabins are available as are “bunkhouse” accommodations located in the main lodge. Groups as large as 25 people can be housed. Tent sites are also available. All guests have access to kitchen facilities, community gathering spaces and a spacious bathhouse. A classroom is available on a reservation basis.
The MSI Field Station at the Outward Bound Campus/Silverton Lakes Campground is located within the Town of Silverton and borders the Animas River and BLM land providing easy access to town amenities and several trails.
