Discussion: Connecting Climate-related Research & Communities

Scientists are asked to think about the following questions prior to the conference. Scientists will share information from their research experience regarding how climate change could affect the San Juan region. Breakout groups will discuss and answer these questions:

  1. Identify & discuss research gaps. What research is needed?
  2. Brainstorm a research program and projects to fill gaps. Who could do what? What funding potentially could support these projects?
  3. Where to go from here? What are the priority projects? Who is interested in leading projects?

Breakout Groups:

  • Hydrology & Biogeochemistry
  • Forestry, Timber, Fire & Pests
  • Agriculture & Ranching
  • Biodiversity & Wildlife
  • Energy

3:00 – 3:15 PM: BREAK

Transition back to large group.

3:15 – 4:15 PM: Reports from Groups

4:15 – 4:45 PM: Large Group Discussion of San Juan Mountain Climate Initiative Development
