Colorado
Geological Survey
The
Colorado Geological Survey (CGS) provides a variety of services
to federal, state, and local government agencies, Colorado's
mineral and energy industries, and private citizens. Services
include: geologic mapping, including digitized data for
identifying geological hazards and mineral resources; technical
assistance on topics like swelling soils, and school site
and land use reviews; and research and economic development
information on Colorado's mineral and energy industries.
The CGS is also the home of the Colorado
Avalanche Information Center, which provides avalanche
hazard monitoring and research. The CGS publishes and distributes
its geology-related research in the form of maps and technical
reports, as well as non-technical publications such as Colorado's
Dinosaurs.
