Research The MSI research model is a multidisciplinary approach to the study of mountain environments. MSI will:Photo of Researchers collecting Water Samples

  • develop and implement a scientific research agenda among MSI, its partners,
  • generate funding for research, equipment and small grant programs for education institutions, USGS, USFS, EPA, the Avalanche Center, and local community groups,
  • maintain a fully equipped, all-season field center with satellite bases for mountain research,
  • develop a curriculum to guide conservation practices ,
  • provide student research stipends and internships,develop an archival database and long-term monitoring activities, and
  • develop a cooperative research center that cooperates with other North American and international centers.
